Ipswich Men's Softball League 2017

WEEK 5 5/21/2017 (PANINI vs. SHELLFISH, and SCL vs. RVA)
In game 1 played on sunny Doyon 1, Panini Pizzeria took on Ipswich Shellfish in what is sure to be a playoff preview at the end of this season. Panini wearing their away green jerseys and Shellfish in their home blues. Steve"illegal" Turner pitching for the home team and Larry "in the zone" White throwing for the traveling Pizza boys. Shellfish got out to an early 3 to 1 lead after 2 innings. However Panini finally figured out that even though a pitch is illegal, it is ok to crush it. A big home run from Charlie "foul again" Michaud put Panini up 4 to 3. Shellfish immediately tied it in the bottom half of the inning. In the fourth, more fireworks for Panini, as the plated four runs, which was topped off by a big homerun from Carlos " long drive" Lahr. It was quiet until the 7th inning, Panini was able to score an insurance run, which was immediately and appropriately dedicated to one of our fine sponsors Bernard Sullivan insurance. Unfortunately Shellfish would not go away quietly, they scored 2 and were looking poised to comeback and steal the game, but the Panini defense held on for a 9 to 7 victory.
Winning Pitcher: Larry White
Web gems: Tito Diaz at the Hot corner
Mike Jeannotte at first base, yes the ball found his glove but he held on to it and did not cry.
Big Hitters for Panini: Charlie Michaud 2 for 4 homerun, Tito Diaz 2/4, Phil Downes 2/4 Carlos lahr 1/3 homerun
Game 2
In the second game, things were very different, Panini had on their home green jerseys and Ipswich Shellfish had on their travel blue Jerseys. On the mound for Panini Pizza, is the winless Mike"could be time to hang them up" Jeannotte and Scot "one T" Morrison, who is turning in a very strong argument for Cy Young award to this point in the season. So it looked great after 1 for the Pizza boys, Gino had a clean top of the first and Panini scored 2. However that was it for Panini scoring and clean innings for Gino the rest of the game. Shellfish had a big inning in the third where they put the game away with5 runs scored. Thanks to Dominic "shoot the middle" Barailo, Gino had a couple near death experiences and there are rumors he is currently at a therapist, rethinking many life decisions. Scot Morrison was on the rest of the game, He had three strikeouts and did not give up many hits. Shellfish took a solid 11 to 3 victory.
Big hitters for Panini: Phil Downes 3 for 3

In game 1 played over on the historic Stephen Grimes Field, Ipswich Shellfish took on Panini Pizzeria; both teams starting the season out 1 and 1. Shellfish started out hot scoring 5 runs on six hits in the first 3 innings, however behind the stellar pitching of Panini’s Larry White, he shut the fish’s bats down to go on to the victory 8-5. Scott Morrison pitched very well for Shellfish but with no offense behind him, he could not hold off Panini.
In game 2, the bats came alive for Shellfish; four doubles and a single; scoring 4 runs in the first. Panini battled back in a valiant attempt to sweep the fish, but once again, Shellfish scored 3 in the third and 4 runs in the fourth to go on to victory, and the split. Final score, 13-7. Winning pitcher for Shellfish was non other than Steve Turner, who in turn K’ed Larry White, after Larry shut them down offensively in game 1.
