Week 10

The first game between VFW and CA Dupray Landscapers started and ended quickly.  After the Landscapers got out to a 19-1 lead after the 3rd inning due to personnel issues with the VFW team they elected to forfeit the game to be able to have enough people for the 2nd game.  Leading hitters for the Landscapers were Steve Maddox 4-4, Dave Moore 4-4, Dick Merry 3-4 and Chris Jordan 3-3 with a HR.

After strategically forfeiting game 1, RVA came back to defeat Dupray Landscaping 13-11 in game 2, led by the pitching of Mike Stasiuk, who held off a late rally in the 6th to earn a hard fought victory. The offense of the RVA was led by Lou Pangona going 4-4, Joe Dupuis who went 4-5 with a HR and Peter Garand who went 3-4 with 2 HR's. Leading hitters for CA Dupray Landscapers were Steve Maddox 3-4, Dave Moore 3-4 with a HR, Chris Perna 2-4 with a HR and Chris Jordan 3-4 with a HR and strikeout.  Charlie Michaud also pitched in with a HR.

After winning their last two games Ipswich Shellfish came into week 9 with a bit of confidence. They were able to make it three in a row beating SCL in the first game of two. Shellfish got out to an early lead in the first scoring six runs and after going back in forth with SCL the fish scored 6 more in the sixth to hold onto the win, 17-13. SCL was low on players again as they only had 8, and Shellfish generously provided a player so SCL could field 9. However that left a lot of real estate in the outfield and Ipswich shellfish took advantage. However SCL did not quit, and even was able to have the lead 12 to 11 going into the bottom of the sixth. However that was as close as SCL would get as Shellfish scored 6 in the bottom of the sixth and shut down SCL in the top of the seventh. Steve Turner got the win, with Mike Jeannotte taking the loss. Leading hitters for Shellfish were Steve Turner, Patrick Kelley, Jeff Putur and Greg Williams who all pitched in with three hits. One of Greg's hits was a homerun. Leading hitters for SCL were Scot Morrison on base 5 times, 1 hit and 4 walks, Steve Drieze 3 for 5, Al Downs 3 for 5 and Stu Smith 3 for 5.

In the second SCL was not going to let Shellfish enjoy another weekend sweep, they had a huge first inning scoring 14. Ipswich Shellfish did not give up though, they held SCL to only 5 more runs over the next six innings and battled back but ended up losing 10-19. However SCL put it away by scoring 5 more runs in the last two innings. Scot Morrrison took home the win, and Larry White took the loss for Shellfish.  The leading hitter for the fish was Andy Knox who lead off and went 4-4 with a homerun and four runs scored. Kane Mosteller added a homerun of his own. Leading hitters for SCL were Steve Lombara 4 for 5, Scot Morrison 3 for  4 with a walk, Mike Jeannotte 3 for 5.

In the first game of the season, SCL jumped out an early lead and never looked back. Winning 31-10. Shellfish were lead by all their new players, Andy Knox went 4-4, Tyler going 2-2 with two walks and Larry White added a homer.
Great start to the season for SCL. The offense appears to be in midseason form as SCL scored in every inning. Along with a very strong offense, the Scot Morrison kept shellfish scoreless for the first 3 innings with a couple strike outs.

In the second it was much of the same with Shellfish battling to stay in the game. Leading hitters were Putur going 4-4 and Carlos went 3-4.
SCL jumped out to a 9 to 0 lead after two innings. The SCL offense kept clicking with big contributions from Scot Morrison 5 for 5 and Tim Galanis also went 5 for 5.
